Alhamdulillah, Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Scotland was able to hold a very successful Atfal Tarbiyyat Class for Scotland region on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 January 2009.
The class started after the Jumu’ah prayer with an opening session to which parents were also invited. The session, which was chaired by the Regional Qaid of Scotland, Ahmed Owusu-Konadu Sahib, was also graced with the presence of the Regional Amir of Scotland Abdul Ghaffar Abid Sahib, Regional Missionary Maulana Muhammad Akram Malik sahib, President of Glasgow Jama’at Mubasher Ahmad Khan Sahib and the special guest who was the Regional Missionary of Islamabad and North West (??) regions, Maulana Mubarak Ahmad Basra Sahib.
The class consisted of three main intensive-study sessions which dealt with the following topics: Salat, Holy Qur’an and Ahadith. Atfal were sub-divided into Mear-e-Sagheer (7-11 years) and Mear-e-Kabeer (12-15 years). Maulana Akram Sahib taught the Mear-e-Kabeer group whereas Maulana Basra Sahib taught the Mear-e-Sagheer group. Each of the study sessions lasted between two and two and a half hours.
Whereas the younger groups were given more creative material, the older group was required to write essays for each of the three topics. There was also a session led by Naib Regional Qaid, Yousaf Ashraf Sahib, on the topic “How Atfal can perform Tabligh”. He had also requested some young Atfal to provide their experience on how they distribute leaflets on regular visits to villages in the surrounding areas of Glasgow.
This programme was followed by a brief Question & Answer session. Later in the evening of Friday, Atfal were also required to learn Surah Fatiha with correct pronunciation, and those who already knew this were required to learn its translation. This session was taken by Regional Qaid Sahib.
The second day started with Tahajjud prayers at 6:30am, then Fajr at 7:15am followed by a Dars on “Respect for Elders” by Maulana Akram Sahib. In addition to the intensive study sessions, there was also a half hour Khidmat-e-Khalq session where Atfal collected rubbish and tidied up the surrounding streets of the Baitur Rahman mosque. This was greatly enjoyed by all Atfal.
Following this, Atfal were taken to the Kelvin Grove Park were the older Atfal played football whereas the younger ones played on the playground. Later in the afternoon, the Murabbi Atfal of Scotland Region, Dr Ata-ul-Habib Khalid Sahib, led an interactive session using new methods of teaching Islamic knowledge by using science. He used laws of nuclear physics to explain why it is important for the Atfal to stay away from un-Islamic things, so that they can develop a strong connection with Almighty Allah.
